10 Minutes with God
This semester we implemented a new rhythm called "My Ten." Students are to spend ten minutes with God every day at program. They can pray, journal, read their bibles, or sit in silence. Before we send them off to their my ten time we give them a question or challenge to consider. One of our coaches told them to write down what they should pray for concerning their moms. Here's what a few of them they put down:
"I prayed that my mom and my grandma would get along. They always argue and I know it really hurts me mom. I don’t want them to hurt anymore"
"I pray that my mom would complete online schooling so she can take good care of us because I know she needs help."
"I pray my mom finds comfort because she carries our family. I know she gets so mad all the time and I let her just let it out because it’s a lot. I try to comfort her but I pray she finds comfort"
After sharing, one of the boys spoke up, "What about you Coach Darius?"
I shared about my mom being in a nursing home and how I’m praying she doesn’t feel alone because of COVID. I know it can be hard on her and I just don’t want her to be alone.
C.S Lewis once said that friends become friends by saying, "Me too." We believe that relationships change lives and one way to build trust in relationships is through vulnerability.
