"Ya. I've heard that here before."

During Gro-work (our cool version of homework) this week at program, I heard one of our Forerunners say, "Ugh, I'm sorry, I should've known that."

His tutor's response was spot on...

"You have nothing to be sorry about. We are learning together and sometimes that means we don't get it right the first time. There's always another chance."

This student looked up at her, nodded, and turned back to his book.

"Ya. I've heard that here before."

These men of God are learning the character of their Father from their tutors. They are learning that there is another chance, that the first time doesn't have to perfect, and that their second attempt will be welcomed and celebrated.

We give our boys another chance. Every time we remind them of a rule, we give them another chance. When we give them a hug after a hard day, they have received a second chance. When we tell them over and over how much their Savior loves them, they are reminded of the second chance He gave us. Our boys have learned that they can come back to Forerunner with a new start. Our God tells us the same thing.

May we all be reminded of the power of second chances. Thank you Jesus.

In January, we had 4 new tutors begin helping our Forerunners with their homework and reading every week. Our tutors commit to an hour each week to assist, care for, and encourage our Forerunner students. We now have 11 people volunteering in this role every single week. Thank you tutors!
