"He's the Best Mentor in the World"

What do you love about your mentor?

"I love that he's super nice to me and he always does everything I wanna do with me and he always thinks about me. I can tell he really cares about me. I just can't really explain it but he's like the best mentor in the world and he's a father figure to me"

What's the biggest thing you've learned through your mentor?

"Controlling myself. Once when someone made me mad, I thought they wanted to fight me or they had something against me but my mentor told me the truth. He didn't want to fight me. The kid is nice and kind and he just made a mistake"

What is something you want your mentor to know?

"That I love him. That he's the best mentor in the world."

He’s nice. He focuses on me. He thinks about me. He cares for me. He’s a father-figure. He tells me the truth.

This mentor match started last November. We ask our mentors to commit to at least a year, and this is why. A year ago they were strangers. But after a few dozen meetups they’ve become inseparable. Their stories bound together through mentoring.

Today I’m thankful for the mentors and the mentees alike who have given it a year. Who have kept showing up. Who have pressed through the awkward stages of new and unfamiliar relationships. Who have learned and grown as men together.

“I will give thanks to you, Lord, with all my heart; I will tell of all your wonderful deeds.” Psalm 9:1
