"What is your dream?"
Today for SEL, the boys and I talked about their dreams and the impact they want to have. This was probably one of the best conversations we've had together all semester. Every single boy was engaged and vulnerable as they shared their hearts. Dreams are one of the most sacred parts of someone's heart. Sharing your dream with someone requires so much trust and comfort because there's always that chance that the receiving part won't believe in their dreams. So I take it to heart and it means more than they know when they share something so special with me. They trust me.
“What is your dream? And how will you use your dream to make this world better?”
“I want to be a construction worker and use my dream to build more schools for kids to learn”
“I want to be a professional soccer player and come up with a new trick nobody has ever done and teach it to kids”
“I want to be a business man and do voice overs for anime characters. I'll use my money I make to help people pay their water bills” (made me laugh but he was so sincere about it)
“I want to be a pastor and share Jesus with the whole entire world so I can save people”
“I want to be an engineer and build a flying glider so people don't have to walk on the streets anymore. I also want to partner with David and build churches for him to be a pastor at”
“I want to be a cop and help kids be safe and teach them about safety”
“I want to be a professional basketball player and teach people in the NBA about Jesus”
“What do you not like about this world? And what is something you can do to make these things better?”
We don't like:
Coronavirus
Drugs
Alcohol
Racism
Having to walk
People not knowing about Jesus
Abusive dads
Other diseases like cancer
Ways they want to impact?
We can find kids who are being abused and rescue them. We can pray for cures for cancer and coronavirus. We can rap about God like coach Rali because kids like rap so they will listen to it and learn about Jesus. We can raise money to help or use the money we make from our jobs (the dreams) to help. We can build churches for more people to go to so they can learn about Jesus and David can be the pastor and Micah and Jesse can build them.”Not only did these boys just dream today. They paired their dreams together. They encouraged and believed in each others dreams. They got vulnerable with the things that are hurting them in this world and thought of ways they could make it better. They gained hope that THEY will be world changers and make a difference.
They prayed after all of this discussion that God would help their dreams come true and help them lead more people to him.
I can't believe I get to do this.
