June 2019: Five Relationships
We provide our boys with so much more than a relationship with an older man.
We give them five.
Five men standing in their corner.
Five men showing them what it truly means to be a man.
Five men helping them learn how to trust other men in their lives.
Five men celebrating their God-given identity.
Five men championing their future.
We connect our boys with five godly men, each fulfilling an important role in their development. The five men are Team Leaders, Tutors, Coaches, Directors, and Mentors. They are Forerunner Mentoring.
Why?
Because the statistics are clear.
In the home: Their development suffers without a father in the home (USA Today).
In our schools: only 2% of teachers are male and black (NPR).
Until our boys live in homes with an older man present, we will stand in the gap.
Until our schools have more male and minority teachers, we will be there.
When our boys look up, they will have men to look up to.
When they act out, we will love them regardless.
When they shut down, we will pick them up.
When they fail, we will be understanding.
Because when they overcome, they will become the best of us.
This is how Forerunner Mentoring is addressing the effects that come from living in a father-absent home. Through providing boys with a network of five healthy, differing, male relationships in the name of Jesus.
You are "the sixth man" for our boys. We are so grateful for your support.
