Previously at Thrive we taught our high schoolers how to play chess. We also talked about Wisdom and the importance of it. As we may know Chess teaches us a lot about life. It teaches us to think before we move. The one thing that stood out to me was that Kevin (mentor) asked Ezekiel (mentee) to teach him how to play chess because he didn't know how too. Chess can be an intimidating game for many and to have a mentor ask a mentee how to play can be humbling. Kevin built trust in that moment. Here are a few pictures and a link to a quick video recap of this impactful night.

Once a week in our junior high program we have a guest speaker come and share about their profession. We had the honor of having Jeremy Duggins whose a Commercial Real Estate Agent. He did a tremendous job and connected to our boys in a creative way. His presentation centered around the owners of Nintendo Switch being in need of a building for their employees. When he mentioned Nintendo Switch our boys ears shot up and their eyes opened wide. Our boys were engaged the entire time.

One of our 8th graders whose name is Abraham takes a business class. He asked Jeremy about supply and demand. Jeremy was thrilled to take an extra 5 minutes to tell Abraham about it. It was a fun day.
