November 2019: Meet Connor, Jai-Caree, & Pebbles

I love the mentor-matching process. It has been an honor and a joy to connect families together for what can become life-long, mutually transforming relationships.

During introductory meetings for mentor matches, you never know what similarities will be discovered between the mentor, the mentee, and their families.

Meet Connor, Jai-Caree, and Pebbles for instance...

The first thing Pebbles saw when she walked in the room with her son was Connor's scrubs.

"Where do you work?" she said.

"I work at Parkland." Connor replied.

You could see trust rising in Pebble's eyes and in her smile.

"Where do you work?" Connor asked.
She responded cheerfully, "I work at Parkland as well!"

I never expected any of our families to feel this connected and at ease at their first meeting. But this sort of connection has happened over and over again this year.

All it takes is a few questions, and you will begin to notice how similar we all are. How similar our jobs are, our interests, our families, our dreams, and even our needs.

We all need relationships that not only leave us better, but better understood. That leave us with that feeling of trust rising in our heart. The feeling of our walls coming down.

These mentor matches remind me again and again why we do what we do. Relationship change lives.

That's our hope for every mentor relationship. Pebbles is overjoyed to have her son paired with Connor. To have a man of God commit to investing in him.

I can already tell these guys are going to have a great mentor relationship. Pray for them and the many others paired over this last month.

Father, bless every mentor match. May the lives of every family involved in Forerunner Mentoring be transformed by your love and presence. Continue connecting our community together one mentor match at a time, and show us how good and beautiful it is when your people live together in unity.

Thank you for your support.
