I stumbled across an amazing story this week. I thought it would encourage you.
This story was written by one of my team members. She wrote it after serving at the monthly dinner we host for single moms!
“I talked to so many strong women tonight. Many told me about the men in their lives.
Some moms wanted to make it work with their son’s father. Other women wanted to be married but didn’t want to settle for a bad situation.
One of these women pulled me aside. She said, “I haven’t told anyone this yet but…” She went on to explain the dating violence and abuse of her past.
I was able to affirm how special and valuable she is! We talked about God’s promises and the devil’s lies. She arrived to dinner with shame and sadness. She left with a renewed sense of worth and strength.
Sometimes it feels like the label “single mom” is attached to these strong women. But many of them are hoping for the day this will no longer apply.
It’s a privilege to care for them by providing godly mentors and a community of women in the same boat. I love that my team and I get to pray over every woman and affirm who they are in Christ.”
