Did We Succeed?
It is hard to believe that we are just 8 weeks away from making it through the crazy year of running an after school program during a pandemic. When I reflect on this year and think about the question, "did we succeed in our mission?", I don't think about the number of kids in our program. I think about watching one of our boys raise his hands and sing during worship for the first time last week. I think about seeing the boy who was held back for literacy struggles volunteer to read the entire Manhood Declaration in front of the whole program. I think of the kid who ran over to pray for his friend when he saw him crying on the playground. For these moments, and so many more that have gone on in the everyday life of our program, I would say the mission this year has been and is still being accomplished. Relationships change lives.
